Dart Container Identified as Essential Critical Infrastructure for COVID-19 Pandemic

3/22/2020

Mason, MI - The US Department of Homeland Security has identified the food & beverage packaging industry as “essential critical infrastructure” during the COVID-19 pandemic, as have numerous states. Therefore, all Dart facilities remain open at this time.

Many of our customers are also considered essential critical infrastructure or at-risk populations, including:

  • Healthcare, nursing/residential care and social assistance facilities
  • Restaurants – takeout and delivery
  • Grocery stores and retail establishments selling food
  • Gas stations and truck stops
  • Correctional facilities
  • Communities providing food to students who normally rely on schools for daily meals
  • People sheltering in place

Dart continues to follow Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and other pertinent guidelines for the health and safety of our employees, their families and our communities, as they are Dart’s #1 priority. The company is watching this evolving and unparalled situation closely and will make further decisions should circumstances warrant.

“We’re open for business because our products help other essential industries keep food and drinks sanitary and people safe during this unprecedented pandemic,” said Dart Container CEO Jim Lammers. “We’re helping feed school-aged children, patients at hospitals and the frontline heroes who care for them, elderly residents quarantined in nursing homes, our neighbors who rely on restaurant delivery and takeout and many more.

“Our dedicated employees come to work to make products that are essential and contribute to the health and safety of their communities and the world,” Lammers stated. “We thank them for the crucial role they play in the battle against COVID-19.”
