MASON, MI – Dart Container Corporation congratulates University of Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill on his selection as the 2018 recipient of The Wuerffel Trophy – college football’s premier award for community service.

Dart, the maker of Solo-branded products and other consumer products and foodservice packaging solutions, has served for the last three years as a corporate partner for the award, which honors college athletes who have made significant contributions on and off the field. Dart is proud to support the Wuerffel Trophy, established by former University of Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, because its criteria closely align with our commitment to giving back to local communities and encouraging volunteerism.

“We are pleased to partner with the Wuerffel Foundation in recognizing athletes such as Drue, who has distinguished himself by contributing significantly to his community while also participating in college athletics,” said Kevin Myers, Dart’s Vice President-Sales/Consumer Products Division.

Tranquill, a senior linebacker from Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a three-time Wuerffel Trophy nominee and graduated in May with a degree in mechanical engineering. He has been named to the Dean's List in five of his eight semesters and is a National Football Foundation William V. Campbell Trophy finalist this season.

A two-year team captain for the Fighting Irish, Tranquill volunteers locally with Lifeworks Ministry, AWP Sports, as an ambassador for Dream Teams, with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, the Center for the Homeless and South Bend Boys and Girls Clubs, just to name a few. He also has served on three mission trips to the Dominican Republic as a team leader with Here for Kids International.

As part of our sponsorship of the trophy, Dart’s Solo brand is promoting the Wuerffel Trophy in eye-catching product displays in numerous retail stores throughout the nation. The displays feature customized products in 11 different color combinations that match the colors of local teams and festively contribute to game-day tailgates and gatherings.
