Dart Container Corporation, a family-held company based in the United States, has acquired Brasbar Embalagens Descartaveis Do Brasil Ltda., a manufacturer of single use foam foodservice products. Brasbar, which has approximately 100 employees, is located in Pindamonhangaba, midway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Dart Container is the world’s largest producer of foam cups and manufactures more than 600 single-use foodservice products. Brasbar is the company’s 20th manufacturing facility and its first in Brazil. Other Dart facilities are located throughout the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. Dart has more than 7,500 employees.
“I am proud to have successfully increased the use of disposable foam, carrying with it the convenience and preservation of health of Brazilians,” stated Hector Barón, whose family opened the Brasbar plant seven years ago. “The investment of Dart in Brasbar strengthens this commitment in a considerable and long-term manner. I thank my loyal workers for their dedication to the company and it is my desire for them that with this change they continue to pave the way for a bright future for them and their families.”
Dart Container Chief Executive Officer Bob Dart stated that “while Dart has been selling its products in Brazil for many years, we are eager to team with Brasbar to strengthen our presence substantially in this growing and diverse market. Dart Container is committed to making a strong investment in Brazil through Brasbar.
“Brasbar is a thriving company, and we will work with its employees to create an organization that provides high-quality foodservice packaging solutions and exceptionally reliable service throughout Brazil,” Dart continued. “That’s how we have set the Industry Standard of Excellence for more than 50 years.”
Established in 1960, Dart Container Corporation sets the industry standard of excellence by providing high quality, recyclable, affordable and safe foodservice products and packaging, exceptionally reliable service and responsible environmental practices. Dart is making a concerted effort to increase foam recycling opportunities throughout the country and strives to produce high-quality, cost-effective products in a manner sensitive to environmental concerns. Dart is headquartered in Mason, Michigan, USA.
