Toronto, Ont. — Canada’s leading manufacturer of single-use foodservice packaging has unified its activities and facilities (Dart Cup Ltd. in Campbellford and Solo Cup Canada Inc. in Toronto and Mississauga) under one name: Dart Canada.
The Dart Canada name change is part of integration efforts resulting from Michigan-based Dart Container Corporation’s 2012 purchase of Solo Cup Company. Now operating under the Dart Canada name are manufacturing facilities in Toronto and Campbellford, a corporate office in Toronto and a Mississauga warehouse. Dart Canada employs approximately 380 people.
The Campbellford plant – opened by Dart in 1985 – makes foam cups, bowls and containers. The Solo Cup Canada plant – opened in 1976 and expanded in 1999 – makes paper cups and containers and plastic lids.
“We are proud to represent Dart’s world-recognized name and reputation as we serve our valued customers throughout Canada,” said Steven Schildt, Dart Canada’s Vice President of Business Management. “We believe this new name clearly identifies us as an industry leader and positions us for a successful future.”
Dart Container Executive Vice President of Administration and General Counsel James Lammers stated that “this name change demonstrates Dart’s commitment to Canada as an integral piece in our global strategy. We see Dart Canada and its dedicated employees as strong assets and believe this change only will strengthen our standing in the Canadian marketplace.”
Customer service, finance and marketing functions are consolidated at Dart Canada’s Toronto office. The new Dart Canada name will be reflected in its website (www.dartcanada.ca).
