Michigan County Polystyrene Foam Recycling Programs
(Cups Are REcyclable)
Dart Container's CARE (Cups Are REcyclable) Program provides larger, institutional customers with an integrated, cost-effective way to collect, densify, transport, and reprocess foam products in a foodservice environment.
Thousands of people recycle their foam cups daily through Dart's CARE Programs which serve dozens of locations.
The centerpiece of the program is Dart's DCH-260 densifier. The densifier turns 8,000 foam cups, about 40 pounds, into a cylinder 15 inches tall and 15 inches in diameter. Its larger hopper and faster operating speeds make foam recycling more convenient for high-volume foodservice operators.
The CARE Program also includes promotional materials, special collection devices, and back-hauling on Dart trucks to a reprocessing facility.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Solid Waste applauds the CARE Program as "precisely the sort of actions that we would like to see adopted throughout corporate America."
